Well the first weekend in October, 2012 has officially come
and gone. Kinda bittersweet
how quickly time passes!! It was another
fun one, though that involved a full day sitting/recovering on the couch… Oh, why you ask?
Friday after school a group of girls piled into 2 cars and
traveled up to the National Harbor to celebrate a co-worker’s bachelorette
party. We stayed at the Gaylord
and oh my gosh it was gorgeous. Think
died and gone to Heaven in a hotel gorgeous.
And expensive.
Very
very expensive.
However, it was well worth every last cent of my October
paycheck and we had a blast. We got to
National Harbor and decided to walk around and peruse through the fancy shops
and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was
absolutely gorgeous!!! And the shops had
such fun artsy stuff.
We began the night for dinner at Cadillac Ranch, and decided
we’d come back later for the bull rides [we did, in fact go back; however, I
did not bull ride… our willing bachelorette did, though!!].
We then hopped next door to a dueling piano bar and had a
blast dancing to the live music.
Seriously, if you’re ever in the area, also check out Bobby
McKey’s (just
don’t try to order a drink… A small Coors light on draft was $4.75… But the 1st
one I got was somehow $5.25?? hmm)
Again, our willing bachelorette played along with our gags and got to go
on stage and have a somewhat inappropriate song sung to her in front of
everyone – it was so funny!
After our 2nd stop at Cadillac Ranch we headed
back to the Gaylord and spent the rest of the evening at their top floor bar
(it’s not technically roof top, but essentially it is? Haha). The view was so pretty – over looking the
harbor and all the lights. Loved it.
So needless to say there was no Saturday/Sunday wine festival
enjoying for this girl this weekend, but it was worth it. I spent Saturday all cuddled up on my couch (…kind
of did that on Sunday, too) and got some gift ideas for Nick’s upcoming
birthday, went to Church alone on Sunday, went grocery shopping, watched some
football (especially proud of PSU
this weekend!!), and eagerly anticipated his return from Delaware.
Hopefully this week will be nice and easy (it’s a teacher
workday today – waaahoo!) and we’ll get to Friday quickly for our Zac Brown
Band concert Friday night. October might
be ¼ over, but it’s shaping up to be a fabulous month (as always).
