lazy weekend update

Monday, December 17, 2012

let me just give it to you straight on this fabulous week-before-Christmas Monday:

feel
like
poop.

100 + degree fever (thank you N), cough, the whole 9.  Howwwwwwever, I have so much to be grateful for and am recuperating from a great weekend with my girlfriends in Philly.  With that,  I'll leave you with a couple sneak peeks of the weekend, but will do a real recap on Wednesday - capisce?

In the meantime, while I get pampered by my murse (male nurse... does that work or sound too ridiculous?  Sorry, N...) I decided it was high time to share some west coast goodness with you.  Take 1 part adorably preggo CA wife with 1 part classy fashionista and you have Rachel + Kelsey.

Rachel happens to be a blogger bff of mine (I'm sure you've heard me mention a thing or two about her before), who is undergoing preparations for her very FIRST baby with her casual-boyfriend-turn-amazing-hubster mans in June!  Let me tell you what, these two have a lot to celebrate in June (anniversary, Rach's birthday, and now a baby!!), and I couldn't be happier for them...  After eight years together (which is very admirable in this day and age, no?!), it's a special stepping stone to their next chapter.

The need-to-knows a/b Rachel are as follows:

The WHERE: blog | twitter | instagram

The WHY:  "I came across blogs from Pinterest and started following along...  I just thought it would be fun to start my own.  At first I never realized you can make a little business out of these things, so as my blog grows, I'm thinking about the potential it has"

The ADVICE: "[be sure to] leave comments and sponsor our fellow bloggers!  Participate in givaways and do link ups" I agree 100%!

The TRADITION: "on Christmas Eve my dad makes Cioppino, and with my cousins we do our ornament exchange and make cookies...  that started after my grandma passed and my cousin got a hold of all her cookie recipes and made cookbooks for all of us with the recipes.  [We also order] personalized ornaments for all 8 of us from Bronners - it means so much to me now every Christmas when [the catalogue] comes in the mail" I feel so so lucky to have a Bronners ornament of my very own - thanks for including me on the tradition!

I only "met" Kelsey very recently and have somewhat of a blogger crush on her fashion sense and luscious locks.  Her only downfall is that her college team (she's a self-proclaimed honorary Oregon Duck) has much better uniforms than any other in the NCAA.  She makes up with it by being a wine and microbrew IPA drinking chick, so I guess we can look past that Oregon detail ;)

The WHERE: blog | twitter | facebook

The WHY: "I started fashion blogging at Ladies in Navy this summer, 2012.  I hope this blog keeps me stylish, keeps me entering tons of giveaways, and I would love it if it resulted in sponsorship or affiliate relationships with clothing companies" I see this happening for sure!  You have a great sense of style!

The DAY IN THE LIFE: "I work in HR, so it's traditionally filled with office work.  I get up at 6:15, work from 8-5p.m., and then come home to watch TV or blog and then go to bed!" Sounds like a mostly perfect day... minus the early start time.

The TWO MOST IMPORTANT NEED-TO-KNOWS: "I have a cat named Archer, but I've always been a dog person.  I guess my cat is essentially a dog, so I'd still go with dog person..."  and when posed with the age old question 'Apple or Droid?' she responds, "Apple, of course!"
