cooking with christina

I am not a decisive person.  When it comes to meal planning, I find that I wind up making the same thing week-in and week-out to avoid coming up with something "new" for my menu.  It finally got to the point where the familiarity bred contempt and I stopped enjoying meal planning/prep altogether.  Coincidentally, this was around the same time we were taking a boat ride with some good friends of ours who had recently begun receiving shipments from Blue Apron.  After hearing them rant and rave over this service, Nick and I popped in a coupon code online and decided to give this thing a go.

By no means have I decided if I think it is worth the money, as we have only received one box thus far.  Nor have I decided if this is something I see us continuing for any length of time.  However, our first two meals have not disappointed as far as taste and satisfaction are concerned, and we do intend to let box #2 ship.  The biggest pitfall (in our opinion) is the restricted portion sizes.  My eyes popped right out of my head when I saw just how little appeared to be in my box; but I must say, we haven't gone hungry and may have judged the sizes too quickly.

I feel like such a good little house wifey-chef when I whip these meals together.  They've been basically dummy-proofed (with step-by-step instructions accompanied by pictures) and have both turned out delicious.

On the menu this past Tuesday:
Rice Flake-Crusted Hake with Sautéed Daikon Radish & Yuzu-Soy Sauce

On the menu tonight:
Flat Iron Steaks with Ramps, Fingerling Potatoes, and Shaved Asparagus Salad
On the menu tomorrow night:
Turkey Kibbeh with Cucumber Salad & Mint-Yogurt Sauce
I'll let you know how the next few meals turn out & how much longer we'll take on this little experiment of ours :-)  And if/when I have free meals to give out, I'll be sure to share!  In the meantime, bon appetite!
