Quick Engagement Party Decor

Wednesday, April 02, 2014

Tis the season for engagements & weddings, am I right?!  Just to think, this time last year I was a year into mine & planning our big day, and here I am now eagerly anticipating attending the weddings to come!

One of my good girlfriends from college, Shelley, recently said "yes" to her now fiance, Sam when he proposed to her in Florida.  We had all been waiting anxiously to find out when he'd officially do it, and Shelley had been taunting us with group chats that would begin with "guys, are you sitting down??"  It wasn't until a few weeks ago that that text led to the big reveal!!  We were all elated for her & can't wait for her to experience this fun time preparing for the big day.

Since we're all scattered about, an impromptu reunion was organized as a few of us ventured to attend her engagement party in Pittsburgh.  I wanted to bring a couple little things to contribute to the party (since I wouldn't really have been there in time to clean/set up/make anything), and here's what I came up with:

1) Burlap engagement banner
take burlap & cut into triangle squares.  using a template (or free hand), draw on letters of choice in sharpie.  hot glue twine or ribbon & display.

2) Wreath w/ future monogram
directions found here.

3) Old-fashioned wedding countdown tracker (since there are iPhone apps, and all!)
take picture frame, pretty paper, and either free hand or sticker something regarding the countdown.  use dry erase marker to change out numbers.

There will be more fun in store for this girl and I just cannot WAIT to see all that she comes up with for her celebration!  Shell, if you need me to craft anything, I'm happy to do such (just make sure it's easy hint - hint!).

Any other fantastic must-read Wedding Wednesday posts out there?  I'll be on the prowl; I may already be married, but I will forever love all things wedding :)

This is such a great post for people who are decorating-inclined (if that makes sense). I have gotten better at decorating over the years, but I know some people who struggle. Thanks for sharing!
